Loving Local Ready Steady Mums

This morning we did the 5 minute mummy tummy workout in the park.

It was cold, the ground was soggy, we used card-board boxes left from the wood flooring I'm having fitted in my house today....

Yes, we are GLAM here in Melbourn village.

But seriously, I feel great now, and I have my Local RSM group to thank. (Doing the plank on a cardboard box on my own is too uncool even for me). Feeling part of a group,  enjoying the local park, socialising with other mums - I love it!

This week at Ready Steady Mums has been all about building the community side of our service. So I thought I'd share some of what we're doing to support our Local RSM members and volunteers.

Firstly, we've been trying to persuade some generous companies that sell products to mums (names to be revealed when they say yes!) to give some nice rewards to our current volunteers. Don't you think the mums that come out week after week to coordinate an exercise session for their fellow mums deserve some nice freebies? Well watch this space, we're working on it.

Secondly, we're building a cool new section on the website that will allow members to search for their Local RSM group automatically by postcode. Thanks for the mum who suggested that in our survey.

Lastly, I've been working with SportMakers to recruit more volunteer mums to run Local RSM sessions as part of the official Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012 legacy. We're making it as simple as we can: find a mum or two to join you, choose a time and place, and get started. We help volunteers with publicity, example sessions, and things like mailing lists etc. And we give you a free T-Shirt, info cards to hand out to potential group members, and admin rights to our Facebook page.

If you're thinking of volunteering yourself please email me now! (local@readysteadymums.com). We'll help you loads with the set-up, and this is a sure way to be loved and revered by all. Honestly. Have a wonderful weekend x x
